Hello! Happy Fall Semester! This semester we have three new foreign teachers that have joined our school. Teacher John, Teacher Taque, and Teacher Keri are all from the United States and join Teacher Jeanette on our Bilingual teaching team. The teachers are teaching International Education, Integrative Activities and Life Curriculum to all of the students here at Qingpu Elementary School. The topics this semester include Sports, Games, different kinds of Building, Clothing and Transportation around the world. We are introducing new vocabulary to the students and providing examples from around the world. For example, earlier this semester we learned about extreme sports and presented examples (like bungee jumping) that many of the students might not be familiar with. There are some activities in the world that are quite entertaining, but also could be quite dangerous. Anyway, we present the material and hope to engage the student’s curiosity.
On Monday, September 28th we celebrated Teacher’s Day here in Taiwan. We had a bit of an appreciation presentation in the morning, then throughout the day, individual students would approach the different teachers and give thanks; even handing the teachers with cards and artwork that they had made themselves. Thank you all for your support. It is a pleasure to be a part of your student’s education.
As teachers, we feel that it is very important to find interesting and creative ways to teach the material presented to us. Many kids absorb English at different levels and different ways, so it is up to us to use out varying methods to make English a fun and healthy environment for learning. Thank you all so much!
