The bilingual teaching principles for courses promoted by Ministry of Education are as follows(Ministry of Education 2024)


1.Do not promote bilingual teaching in a mandatory manner, and do not strictly require the proportion or number of lessons in English in the classroom.


2.The teaching content should still focus on the core competencies (knowledge, abilities and attitudes) of the field/subject, and comply with the learning focus set by the announced field/subject curriculum syllabus.


3.Using the Chinese/English bilingual method in accordance with students language proficiency and understanding. Do not overemphasize the proportion of English integration, and do not force students to use English throughout the entire process and conduct English proficiency assessments.


4.The purpose of introducing foreign teachers is to create students English listening and speaking situations and improve bilingual teaching content; teachers speaking enhancement courses and students speaking practice activities can also be arranged to give students more opportunities to speak English.
